Rwanda's Minister of Foreign Affairs attends the Doha Forum 2023

Rwanda's Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Vincent Biruta, just concluded a visit to Doha, Qatar to attend the 2023 #DohaForum. In a world facing fragmentation in geopolitics, technology, and trade, Rwanda’s participation to the Doha Forum aims to proactively engage and seek innovative solutions to global challenges.

The 21st Doha Forum tackles a wide array of issues. Under the theme ‘Diplomacy, Dialogue, Diversity’, this annual gathering promotes the exchange of ideas and opinions to inform policy changes.

Minister Biruta participated in a panel on the changing priorities in global trade titled “Nearshoring and Friendshoring - Changing Priorities in Global Trade”, where he highlighted various strategies adopted by Africa to overcome global increase in prices caused by the disruption of supply chain and the economic competition on the global market.

Qatar's role as a global hub for ideas aligns with Rwanda's commitment to meaningful cooperation. As we engage in discussions on security, trade and sustainability, Rwanda actively seeks to be part of innovative solutions alongside partners like Qatar”, Minister Biruta said as he concluded his visit.

On the sidelines of this forum, Rwanda's Foreign Minister met with his counterparts from Algeria - H.E. Ahmed Attaf, H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, and H.E. Dr. Mohamed Bin Mubarak Al-Khulaifi, Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar. Their discussions revolved on the consolidation of bilateral relations and the furthering of cooperation in addressing pressing global challenges.
