Rwandan Publisher Fiston Mudacumura Returns to Doha International Book Fair with Multilingual Children’s Books
The 34th Doha International Book Fair, one of the largest and most esteemed literary events in the region, is currently underway at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center, drawing over 500 publishing houses from 40 countries. This year, Rwanda is proudly represented by renowned children’s book author and publisher, Fiston Mudacumura.
Founder of Mudacumura Publishing House Ltd, Fiston is showcasing a vibrant collection of children’s books available in English, French, and Arabic. His publishing house, which was nominated as Best Publisher at the 2023 Bologna Children's Book Fair in Italy, has published over 150 books since 2013, many of them rooted in Rwandan culture, language, and values.
Fiston’s participation comes at a time of growing cultural exchange between Rwanda and Qatar. His presence at DIBF not only reinforces Rwanda’s creative diplomacy but also amplifies African voices in global literary spaces.
“Being here at the Doha International Book Fair is a powerful reminder that stories have no borders,” Fiston said. “I like Qatar’s safety, cleanliness, and inspiring development. I am starting to feel like this is my second home. I am honored to share Rwanda’s vibrant culture and imagination with the world and to help young readers everywhere see themselves in the pages of a book.”
As he returns to Doha, Fiston Mudacumura continues to inspire a generation of young readers, affirming the power of books to connect cultures, foster empathy, and tell the stories of Africa with pride and purpose.
