Rwanda and Qatar Strengthen Cooperation in Internal Security
Doha, Qatar – The Minister of Interior of Rwanda, H.E. Dr. Vincent Biruta, met with the Minister of Interior and Commander of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya), H.E. Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, on 29 October, 2024.
The meeting took place at Doha Exhibition and Convention Center during the 15th edition of Milipol Qatar. They reviewed bilateral cooperation on matters of internal security and discussed ways to further strengthen and develop the existing ties.
The ministers also witnessed the signing of memorandum of understanding (MoU) on capacity building between Rwanda National Police RNP and Lekhwiya, Qatar’s Internal Security Force. The MoU was signed by Major General Hamad Hassan Al Sulaiti of Qatari and the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) in charge of Operations, CP Vincent Sano.
This signing of the MoU underscores the strong and growing relationship between Rwanda and Qatar, reflecting both countries’ commitment to enhancing security collaboration and sharing best practices. The agreement serves as a foundation for deeper cooperation and mutual support in tackling security challenges, showcasing the trust and partnership that have developed over time.
After the meeting, Minister Dr. Vincent Biruta and his delegation toured the Milipol Qatar exhibition, exploring innovations in the global security industry.
Minister Biruta also engaged with several other ministers visiting Doha for Milipol Qatar and discussed shared security priorities and opportunities for collaborative efforts.
